Nov 17, 20233:18Now PlayingRescue efforts are underway in Uttarkashi as workers tirelessly drill through rubble to reach 40 laborers trapped in an under-construction tunnel. With the aid of a high-capacity machine from New Delhi, rescue teams have managed to drill up to 24 meters, inching closer to their goal of 60 meters. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has specified that 800 mm and 900 mm diameter pipes need to be inserted to create an escape passage. To alleviate the trapped workers' discomfort, essential medicines, multivitamins, glucose, and dry fruits are being delivered through a six-inch pipe.
