14:34Now PlayingIn this episode of The Urban Debate, anchor Shreya Dhoundial will discuss how according to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2023, which was issued on Wednesday, 42% of children in rural India between the ages of 14 and 18 are unable to read simple English phrases, and over half of them have difficulty with basic division tasks. ASER 2023's 'Beyond Basics' survey reached 34,745 youngsters in the 14–18 age range by way of 28 districts spread over 26 states. Every major state had one rural district examined, except for Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which had two rural districts surveyed each. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. Sanskriti Schools' Trustee Praneet Mungali lists out the reasons why youth in rural India is struggling with basic education.
