Today, a measure that would set a 10% quota for Marathas in employment and education will be introduced in the state assembly. This is the third time in ten years that the state has tried to pass laws giving the Maratha community quota advantages. The decision to call a special session was brought about by Manoj Jarange Patil, a Maratha quota campaigner, who is now on a hunger strike.
