JD(S) leader D Kupendra Reddy lost with 36 votes. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP's Harsh Mahajan won the lone seat against Congress's Abhishek Manu Singhvi. In Uttar Pradesh, notable Samajwadi Party leaders supporting BJP sparked cross-voting speculation. Out of the 56 seats contested, 41 were virtually secured by candidates.
