4:46Now PlayingTop News | On Monday, the Supreme Court overturned its 1998 majority decision in the JMM bribery case, wherein the court had declared that state legislatures and members of Parliament were not subject to prosecution if they accepted payments in exchange for their votes or speeches in the House. The inquiry had been raised in relation to allegations of bribery against Sita Soren, the MLA for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, in relation to the state's two seats in the Rajya Sabha election of 2012. Sita Soren was charged with taking bribes from independent candidates in exchange for her support. She'd claimed to have supported the candidate of her party.
