The Bengal Police was accused by the ED of being uncooperative, and they were asked by the court to be held in contempt. The ED was given permission by a division bench made up of justices Harish Tandon and Hiranmay Bhattacharyya to launch a contempt suit against the West Bengal administration. Deputy Solicitor General Dhiraj Trivedi, representing the ED, requested permission to bring the contempt suit and an expedited hearing, arguing that the CBI was losing valuable time by not having Sheikh in custody.
