These rules allow the Central Government to establish a Fact Check Unit (FCU). According to the amendment, social media intermediaries must remove any content related to the Central Government's affairs that the FCU has identified as false. Failure to do so may result in legal consequences for the intermediaries. Comedian Kunal Kamra and Editors Guild of India challenged the IT Amendment Rules 2023 in Bombay High Court.
