4:41Now PlayingThe US has been battling devastating flash floods for over a month now. Torrential rain in parts of the Washington, D.C. area led to flash flooding and prompted water rescues in Maryland and Virginia. More than five inches of rain fell that submerging the city, trapping the vehicles and buildings. The National Weather Service issued a series of flood alerts. Heavy rains also swept across parts of the US Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, inundating sections of New York and New Jersey with flash flooding that stranded vehicles in roadways, closed subway lines and led to the declaration of a state of emergency.
