The Awami League, led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is banned and has called the polls a “sham,” alleging ballot tampering and releasing videos claiming irregularities. The main contest is between the BNP, led by Tarique Rahman, and Jamaat-e-Islami. Around 127 million voters are eligible across 299 constituencies, with nearly one million security personnel deployed. Voters will also decide on a nationwide referendum on interim chief Yunus’ proposed 84-point reform agenda.
