3:18Now PlayingSlovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico has called on the European Union to lift sanctions on Russian oil and gas imports, citing the ongoing energy crisis linked to the war in Iran. Following a call with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Fico said the EU should reopen dialogue with Moscow to allow member states access to energy supplies from all available sources, including Russia.
Hungary and Slovakia remain among the few EU countries maintaining ties with Moscow. Oil prices have risen since the US and Israel began their war in Iran on 28 February, disrupting shipments from the Gulf and prompting the International Energy Agency to describe it as the largest oil supply disruption in history.
