4:01Now PlayingMillions of black-clad mourners flooded the arterial corridors of Tehran on Monday, staging a massive, defiant public procession for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The public procession, marking the fourth day of an extended, multi-city state funeral, saw immense crowds engulf the military transport truck conveying the caskets of the 86-year-old cleric and several immediate family members who were killed in a devastating joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike on February 28. Beginning at dawn on Damavand Street, the highly choreographed procession locked down the capital's central infrastructure, traversing iconic milestones from Revolution Square to Azadi Square before headers moved toward the western expressways. Amid visible public weeping, prominent sections of the crowd vocally rejected ongoing diplomatic efforts under the current ceasefire, openly demanding military retaliation against Washington and Tel Aviv while declaring allegiance to his designated successor, Mojtaba Khamenei. Following the conclusion of the capital's ceremonies, the remains are scheduled to transit through the holy city of Qom and major Shiite sanctuaries in Iraq before a final entombment at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad on Thursday.
