3:41Now PlayingRussian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers were seen detaining a suspect allegedly linked to a suspected Ukrainian drone plot to assassinate a high-ranking military official in Moscow, in footage published on Thursday. Footage shows officers detaining a suspect and retrieving a homemade explosive device using a robotic system.
"In February 2026, under threatened criminal prosecution against his wife, he was recruited by the enemy, underwent training in marksmanship and explosives, and then travelled via Chisinau-Yerevan-Mineralnye Vody to Russia to carry out a terrorist attack," an FSB statement read.
The agency added that the perpetrator rented a flat where he installed cameras to watch the officer’s residence. "The plan devised by the Ukrainian security services was that, once the schedule showing when a Russian military officer would visit his residence in a multi-storey apartment block had been worked out, a targeted attack would be carried out as he entered the building’s entrance hall, using a drone equipped with a high-explosive improvised device containing projectiles," FSB added. The suspect was charged with 'terrorism' and 'illegal acquisition, transfer, dealing in, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives'.
