8:03Now PlayingA major fire tore through the upper floors of Jakarta's Abdul Muis Technical Service Building on Friday night, sending flames across six floors and triggering a large emergency response in the Indonesian capital.
Footage shows flames engulfing the upper section of the building as burning debris falls to the ground. Fire engines and emergency crews later surround the site. The fire was reported at around 21:30 local time on Friday and spread from the 11th to the 16th floors, according to Jakarta authorities. Strong winds complicated the operation and helped the flames flare up again as firefighters worked through the night.
A renovation worker trapped on the 15th floor was rescued and taken to Tarakan Regional General Hospital for treatment. Authorities said no deaths had been reported. Jakarta's fire and rescue service deployed 37 fire units and 185 personnel, supported by three Bronto Skylift aerial vehicles, to reach the upper floors. A later operational update put the deployment at 40 units and 200 personnel.
