8:33Now PlayingEurope is facing a fresh energy shock as the US-Iran war threatens supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. European gas prices have surged, with Dutch TTF trading around €74 per MWh, while storage remains only around 62–64% full — roughly 17 percentage points below the five-year average. The biggest concern is LNG. Around one-fifth of global LNG trade passes through Hormuz, and disruptions to Qatari supplies are forcing European buyers to compete for alternative cargoes with Asia. Asian LNG prices have also climbed above $24 per MMBtu. If the crisis persists, Europe could face higher energy bills, inflation and a tougher winter.
