May 4, 20263:08Now PlayingAccording to a report by CNN, Hezbollah has begun deploying fibre-optic controlled drones, a low-cost but highly effective weapon that is proving difficult to counter. Unlike traditional drones, these devices do not rely on radio signals. Instead, they are connected directly to the operator via a thin fibre-optic cable, which transmits real-time video and control commands.
Israel has relied heavily on electronic warfare, particularly signal jamming, to neutralise drones. Fibre-optic systems bypass that entirely. An Israeli military source told CNN that without a signal to disrupt, interception becomes far more difficult. “Beyond physical barriers like nets, there is little that can be done,” the source said. “It’s a low-tech system adapted for asymmetric warfare.”
