May 4, 20263:16Now PlayingThe head of Iran’s parliamentary national security committee, Ebrahim Azizi, has warned the United States against intervening in maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz, saying any such move would be treated as a violation of the existing ceasefire framework.
In a post on X, Azizi said “any American interference in the new maritime regime of the Strait of Hormuz will be considered a violation of the ceasefire,” responding to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a naval assistance initiative called “Project Freedom.” The US plan aims to guide stranded commercial vessels out of the waterway amid ongoing disruptions.
Azizi also rejected US claims over maritime navigation and security in the Persian Gulf, stating that the strait “would not be managed by Trump’s posts.” He further dismissed what he described as attempts to shape international narratives around the tensions, adding that “no one would believe blame game scenarios.”
