3:17Now PlayingBiotech entrepreneur and Republican politician Vivek Ramaswamy has emerged as the GOP nominee for Ohio governor following his victory in the party’s primary on Tuesday. Ramaswamy’s win over Casey Putsch - a car designer known for his automotive-themed online positions him for a general election contest against Democrat Amy Acton.
Acton is a physician who previously served as Ohio state’s health director. A native of Youngstown in Ohio, her campaign website describes her as a ‘mother, grandmother and a doctor of preventive medicine.’ According to reports, Acton comes from a family that worked in the steel mills. She grew up under challenging circumstances. Her family moved from place to place, often not knowing where they would sleep or eat. Acton put herself through college and medical school by delivering newspapers and working as a waitress.
