Earlier today in Minneapolis, journalist Amanda Moore documented a tense, chaotic federal operation near 34th Street and Park Avenue. Agents appearing to remove people from a nearby home who “looked like they might be teenagers” drew a crowd in protest.
At the same time, a woman trying to pass by the protest was stopped by federal agents, who smashed the passenger-side window of her car, cut off her seat belt, pulled her out of the car, and arrested her. In the video, she pleads to be allowed through for medical care, saying she’s disabled and trying to get to the doctor.
As tensions escalated, Moore reported agents fired pepper balls and deployed tear gas.
The scenes unfolded amid a broader surge of federal immigration enforcement in the Twin Cities following the fatal shooting of Renée Good by an ICE officer last week.
