In this video from Yarnhub @Yarnhub, on August 27, 1942, the German submarine U94 was severely damaged by a US Navy PBY Catalina in the Caribbean Sea, forcing it to the surface where it was intercepted by the Canadian corvette HMCS Oakville. Following multiple ramming maneuvers and intense gunfire from the Oakville, the U-boat was critically disabled, prompting its captain to order the vessel scuttled. Canadian Sub-Lieutenant Hal Lawrence, who had rushed to action wearing nothing but tropical shorts, joined Petty Officer Art Powell in leaping onto the sinking submarine to secure it, but the impact of the jump broke the elastic on Lawrence's shorts, leaving him entirely naked. Because rough seas quickly separated the two vessels, Lawrence and Powell had to secure the surrender of the remaining German crew completely on their own. Lawrence then bravely descended into the pitch-black, flooding control room to try and stop the scuttling, but the rapidly rising water forced him to abandon the effort, allowing the Canadians and their German prisoners to safely leap into the sea just before U94 sank into the deep. Mr. Terry can't help but laugh, and also be impressed!
