2:59Now PlayingDramatic nanny-cam video shows the unbelievable moment a toddler rescued his trapped twin brother after their bedroom dresser fell on top of him.
The 2½-year-old boys, Brock and Bowdy Shoff of Utah, can be seen in the video in their matching pajamas climbing on the dresser with the drawers open before the weight of the twins on the drawers causes the heavy piece of furniture to topple over directly on Brock.
The short clip, posted to YouTube by the boys’ mom, Kayli Shoff, shows little Bowdy looking around the bedroom and inspecting the fallen dresser as his brother looks visibly in distress under it.
Brock is trapped under the dresser for nearly two minutes before Bowdy first attempts to lift it off of Brock, but is unsuccessful.
Bowdy then miraculously uses his baby strength to push the dresser off of his brother just enough so that Brock can slip out from underneath to safety.
The tots’ dad, Ricky Shoff, posted the clip to his Facebook page Sunday, saying, “I’ve been a little hesitant to post this.
“But I feel it’s not only to bring awareness, but it is also incredible,” the post read.
“We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share. We know Bowdy was not alone in moving the dresser off of Brock. And feel blessed that he is ok. Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall. Please share.”
Kayli told NBC that she and her husband had no idea about the dangerous situation their boys were in at the family’s home in Orem.
“I usually hear everything,” she told the network. “We didn’t hear a cry. We didn’t hear a big thud.”
The mom added that they only realized that the dresser fell over when they looked at the nanny-cam.
Kayli said the whole ordeal was a wake-up call and prompted the parents to immediately bolt the dresser to the wall. They hope to raise awareness with the incredible story so that other parents do the same.
“Everybody needs to bolt down their dressers to the wall. We just didn’t think about it,” she told NBC.
When it comes to her sons, Kayli said, “I really believe in a twin bond and I really think these two have it.”
An edited version of the nanny-cam video has been viewed on YouTube more than 505,800 times.
