The California-based conservationist is the only person in the world with permission to lead groups to the tops of old-growth redwoods — an otherwise illegal activity.
"Wild or tame, you have to remind yourself that you are entering into someone else's home," Kovar said. Incredibly, he has a fear of heights, but that hasn't stopped him from summiting the tallest trees on the planet. Watch as he guides a team 200 feet up a 1000-year-old tree in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
