She's dogs' best friend. Meet Dr. Janey Lowes, a veterinarian who left her life in the UK behind to found WECare Worldwide, a charity for street dogs in Sri Lanka. The 20-person staff provides veterinarian services for strays on the island, where there's one dog for every eight people. It's a tough life for these pooches. "We deal with everything from road traffic accidents, wild boar attacks, bomb wounds, all kinds of things," she told The Post.

Watch Lowe's inspiring story, including the heart-wrenching moment she takes in a dog suffering from a huge maggot wound. Over the past five years, WECare Worldwide has helped more than 6,000 injured animals and vaccinated and neutered countless canines.
