as posted by the channelAttorney General Merrick Garland appointed a veteran prosecutor currently investigating alleged crimes against humanity in Kosovo to determine whether former President Donald Trump will face federal charges in connection with his attempts to reverse the 2020 presidential election or his retention of sensitive government documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Garland tapped Jack Smith, a former federal prosecutor in the Brooklyn and Nashville, Tenn., US Attorney’s offices — as well as a former Manhattan assistant district attorney — to take on the cases three days after the 76-year-old Trump announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
