2:06Now PlayingThe Philippine government has accused China of “aggressive and dangerous maneuvers” on August 25, claiming that Chinese vessels tried to obstruct a humanitarian mission in the West Philippine Sea.
The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) said that eight Chinese ships, including those from the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and the China Coast Guard (CCG), allegedly attempted to block the BRP Datu Sanday (MMOV 3002).
The Philippines claimed that the Chinese vessels used ramming tactics and deployed water cannons, Jay Tarriela, PCG Spokesperson on the West Philippine Sea, said.
The Chinese government stated that the Philippine vessel’s entry was unauthorized, and the China Coast Guard took “lawful control measures” in response.
“At 2:12 p.m., the Philippine vessel ignored repeated warnings from the Chinese side and deliberately sailed toward the Chinese ship in an unprofessional and dangerous manner, causing the collision”, said CCG spokesperson Gan Yu.
