New bodycam footage released by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department shows the moment pardoned January 6th rioter, Matthew Huttle, was pulled over for speeding on State Road 14 on January 26, 2025. Huttle admitted to driving without a license and waiting for a “hardship license.”
After the deputy runs Huttle's information, the officer explains that he is a habitual offender and due to his felony status, he is going to take him into custody. The interaction shortly escalated to Huttle running back to his vehicle screaming “I’m shooting myself” before the law enforcement officer pulls out his pistol and fatally shoots Huttle in his van. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department did reveal that Huttle was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident but it’s unclear if the gun was pointed at the officer during the struggle.
