4:11Now PlayingIn direct defiance of a federal judge’s ruling, the Trump administration has flown more than 250 accused migrant gang members to the notorious mega-prison in El Salvador known as CECOT, or Terrorism Confinement Center.
Built in 2023 nearly 50 miles from El Salvador’s capital, CECOT is the largest prison facility in Central America. It spans eight pavilions which can hold up to 40,000 inmates and has been internationally known for its horrendous conditions. Groups of inmates are crammed into cells with up to 70 prisoners for nearly 24 hours a day – and inmates are lucky if they get a metal bunk to sleep on.
