0:21Now PlayingFour men were rescued in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, after becoming trapped for around 11 hours inside a 25-meter shaft in a deep cave in Spain’s southeastern Valencia region, according to the Spanish Civil Guard.
Footage released by the Civil Guard shows the rescue operation at inside the Tunel dels Sumidors (Sumidor Tunnel) in Vallada. The cave is the largest karst cavity in the world and the deepest to develop in gypsum, according to local officials.
Officials said four speleologists from Malaga entered the cave around 2 pm and were brought back to the surface in good condition about 11 hours later, at 1:09 am.
