3:15Now PlayingColumbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi was detained when he arrived for his meeting at an immigration office in Colchester, Vermont on April 14, 2025. Mahdawi is a green card holder and has been in the US as a legal permeant resident for 10 years. A pro-Palestine activist who took part in demonstrations on Columbia’s campus, Mahdawi told the Senator, “My work has been centered on peacemaking and all that I’m doing, I am being a human. My empathy, as I mentioned before, extends beyond the Palestinian people, and my empathy extends to the Jews and to the Israelis.”
