1:23Now PlayingIntense wildfires sent huge plumes of smoke into the air over the Jerusalem hills and other parts of Israel on April 30 as firefighters and IDF soldiers worked to battle the immense blaze. The fires prompted widespread evacuations in several communities in central Israel, including Eshtaol, Neve Shalom and Mesilat Zion. On May 1, Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service said that “after strenuous activity by all forces in the field, the large fire that broke out in the Jerusalem hills was declared under control.”
