2:52Now PlayingAuthorities are on the hunt for Grant Hardin, who was captured on security cameras walking out of the North Central Unit prison, in Calico Rock on Sunday. The disgraced ex-Arkansas police chief was serving 80 years for rape and a shotgun-to-the-head execution for which he became known as the "Devil in the Ozarks,” – a story told in a 2023 Max documentary. Upon his escape, Hardin was dressed in what appears to be a homemade law enforcement uniform, which he used to sneak through the controlled gate while inconspicuously pushing a cart full of utility materials at approximately 2:55 p.m. Authorities consider Hardin to be dangerous, and have warned residents not to approach him if they spot him as the manhunt continues with dogs, helicopters and drones.
