YouTube Description
as posted by the channelNew York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was detained for several hours on June 17, after being arrested by federal agents at an immigration court in Manhattan. Lander, one of 11 Democrats vying to replace Mayor Eric Adams, said he was escorting a defendant out of court when ICE agents detained him. Lander was released later that day after Governor Kathy Hochul arrived at the courthouse and announced that charges had been dropped. Speaking outside, Lander said he was unharmed—“just lost a button”—but warned that the rule of law and constitutional democracy are under threat as immigrant families continue to be separated and denied due process.
