A cargo vessel was seen near Iraq’s Umm Qasr on Monday after Iraqi officials said it was struck by two explosions in the Gulf, including a suspected drone attack. The ship was reportedly hit about 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr, with the UK Maritime Trade Operations stating it suffered a projectile strike on its starboard side that caused a large explosion. Iraqi officials later said a second blast appeared to be caused by a drone, though no group has claimed responsibility. The fire onboard was eventually brought under control, and the identity of the vessel has not been confirmed.
