18:01Now PlayingIn this episode of Messy Media Scandals, New York Post writer Brian Faas breaks down the messy rise of Bari Weiss inside CBS News, from her dramatic exit from The New York Times and the launch of The Free Press, to Paramount Skydance’s $150 million acquisition that made her editor in chief of CBS News. We also look at why Weiss’ arrival triggered panic inside one of America’s most famous legacy newsrooms, with staffers raising concerns about her lack of TV experience, her political views, and whether she is modernizing CBS News or reshaping it in her own image.
New York Post media reporter Alexandra Steigrad lends her insight into the chaos surrounding 60 Minutes, including the Sharon Alfonsi controversy, the replacement of executive producer Tanya Simon, Scott Pelley’s firing, accusations of censorship and bias, the growing list of major CBS exits, and the shutdown of CBS News Radio. From newsroom leaks to staff revolt, this is the inside story of how Bari Weiss became one of the most powerful, and polarizing figures in media, and why CBS News is now at the center of its own unfolding scandal.
