2:41Now PlayingTreasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that he was the target of an alleged assassination attempt by what he described as a "left-wing activist" just two hours after being sworn into office. Speaking at the State Department's Ministerial on the Resurgence of Political Terrorism, Bessent cited the case as evidence that violent far-left extremism is a real threat and urged critics not to dismiss it. He also pointed to an upcoming sentencing in August as support for his account.
