ARMENIAN GENERAL TO BE ARRESTED AGAIN
Armenia’s ex-MP and retired General Manvel Grigoryan will be remanded in custody again.
The Criminal Court of Appeal on Tuesday issued its ruling and granted the attorney general’s office appeal of the first instance court’s decision on releasing Grigoryan from prison on bail.
He is charged with unlawfully acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition, as well as committing large-scale embezzlement.
ARMENIA, GAZPROM AGREE ON GAS PRICE
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the authorities have agreed with Gazprom on preserving an internal price for Russian natural gas.
“Gazprom is selling gas not to Armenia, but to Gazprom Armenia company, and our role is indirect. But we agreed with Gazprom Armenia that the price will not change in the country,” Pashinyan said on the margins of the Davos Economic Forum.
He added that it is very important for Armenia to agree on a long-term price.
ROBBERY SOLVED
Yerevan police have identified the person who on Monday stole more than $2,400 from a branch office of a credit organization.
Adam Baghdasaryan was detained and taken to police station on suspicion of being involvement in this robbery. It was found out that Baghdasaryan robbed other branches of the same organization on January 5 and on January 14.
ARMENIA ELECTION RESULTS AT EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
The head of European Parliament’s observation mission Heidi Hautala briefed the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs on Armenia snap parliamentary elections.
Hautala presented the recommendations and conclusions of the observation mission and also touched upon EU-Armenia relations.
Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with South Caucasus Sajjad Karim, in turn, said he is confident that Armenia will stay high on the EU’s foreign policy agenda and added that “we must now see that EU-Armenia agreement is ratified in all EU member states”.
GENOCIDE RECOGNITION SUPPORTER TO RUN FOR US PRESIDENT
U.S. Senator Kamala Harris who launched her campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination cosponsored the Armenian Genocide Resolution and tweeted her commemoration of the crime prior to her second April 24th in office.
As California Attorney General, she defended the right of U.S. states to enact legislation referring to the Armenian Genocide, and also the right of Americans of Armenian heritage to seek justice in connection with unpaid Genocide-era insurance policies.
