ARTSAKH
Thursday’s search operations by the rescue squads of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) did not yield any results.
However, according to preliminary data, the bodies of two fallen soldiers were transferred from Martakert military unit to Karabakh.
Two days ago, the remains of another soldier were transferred from the same place.
During the recent Artsakh war, this area was targeted and set on fire by an adversary missile.
VOROTAN
The Azerbaijanis were reportedly doing the engineering work in the vicinity of Vorotan village in Armenia's Syunik Province.
Armenia deputy defense minister Arman Sargsyan commented on the reports noting that Armenian residents has nothing to worry about.
"There is a working group dealing with Syunik issues; we will provide proper information within that framework. The people of Syunik have absolutely no need to worry," he said.
INDEPENDENCE
The Burbank City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to recognize Artsakh as an independent republic, Asbarez reports.
The Armenian National Committee of America Burbank chapter has been advocating for the recognition of the Artsakh Republic for months going back to the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression against Armenia and Artsakh in September 2020.
OMBUDSMAN
Armenia Ombudsman said Azerbaijan encourages crimes against Armenians at the state level.
Arman Tatoyan recalled a number of murders and added that the European Court of Human Rights has also confirmed the ethnic ground of the crimes.
He also added that the international community must actually prove the priority of human rights. According to him, if a crime goes unpunished, it can be repeated in a more severe way.
ARMENIAN MFA
Armenian MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan has commented on Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev's statements.
Earlier, Aliyev noted that “the new transport corridor will pass through the historical territories of Azerbaijan, Zangezur, connecting the main part of Azerbaijan with its integral part, Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, and Turkey.”
According to Naghdalyan, "with such a provocative statement, calling Zangezur an “Azerbaijani historical land” and making reference to an imaginary corridor, the President of Azerbaijan deliberately undermines the implementation of the November 9 and January 11 trilateral statements."
RALLY
The next rally of the Homeland Salvation Movement—which demands the resignation of Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan—will kick off at 3pm Saturday on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan, across the National Assembly building.
COVID-19
As of Friday morning, 442 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 173,749 in the country.
Also, seven more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 3,215 cases.
The number of people who have recovered so far is 164,463.
