US SENATORS

US Senators have introduced several amendments on holding Azerbaijan and Turkey liable, as reported on the Twitter blog of the Armenian National Committee of America.

Senator Bob Menendez has introduced an amendment demanding the US Department of State and the Department of Defense report on Turkey’s export of killer drones – in response to Azerbaijan’s 2020 deployment of Bayraktar UAVs against Artsakh. Menendez has also introduced an amendment to revoke authority of the U.S. President to waive Section 907 restrictions on US aid to Azerbaijan.

INTESTINAL INFECTION

15 people, including two children aged 10 and 13, have been hospitalized in Yerevan with an initial diagnosis of intestinal infection.

All of them informed that they had eaten at two Yerevan restaurants of a pizzeria chain.

They are in moderate condition.

Inspectors from the Food Safety Inspectorate Body have already started inspections at both aforesaid restaurants of this pizzeria chain.

AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan has handed over to the Armenian side about 1,700 bodies of killed servicemen, Azerbaijani FM Jeyhun Bayramov said during a conference at a university, Haqqin.az reports.

"[The Armenian side] hiding and not providing minefield maps to slow down our return to the [Nagorno-Karabakh] territories is a weak, senseless, and inhuman approach—and it cannot succeed," Bayramov added.

To note, however, Azerbaijan refuses to release all Armenians—both prisoners of war and civilian detainees.

SITUATION

Armenian MP Garo Paylan’s call to Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu during budget debates in Turkey’s parliament has been widely covered in the Turkish press.

In his speech addressed to the Turkish FM, Garo Paylan, an Armenian lawmaker from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), criticized Cavusoglu for his discriminatory statements against Turkish citizens, T24 reported.

Paylan stressed that Cavusoglu should not use the phrase "dear kinsmen" in his speeches, as Turkish citizen Armenians, Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and other nations also have equal rights in Turkey.

The Armenian MP called on the Turkish FM to from now on use the word "countrymen" instead, and not the discriminatory word "kinsmen."

According to the Turkish press, Mevlut Cavusoglu found himself in an awkward situation after Garo Paylan's aforesaid remarks.
