YouTube Description
as posted by the channelOver the weekend, President Trump's announced new tariffs on the United States' largest trading partners. Starting Tuesday, imports from Canada and Mexico will pay 25% duties and those from China 10%. Energy imports from Canada will be lower with a 10% duty.
The import taxes could result in higher prices for a wide range of products, including fruits and vegetables, flat screen TVs, and auto parts. The targeted countries have said they will respond with retaliatory tariffs of their own on U.S. exports.
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said – following a phone call with Trump this morning – they have agreed to put tariffs on hold for a month. She said her government had also agreed to send 10,000 National Guard troops to the border to prevent drug trafficking.
Canada's government announced that it would impose 25% retaliatory tariffs on a variety of U.S. products, starting with appliances, clothing, wine and spirits, orange juice, peanut butter and motorcycles. Trump is due to talk to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at some point today.
