Often drug addiction services are not covered by insurance and many addicts in their darkest hour are turned away from treatment. Senator Jack Martins leads a community discussion about medical necessity, involuntary treatment, sober homes and generally providing access to treatment and recovery programs.
With the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, Senator Martins helped to identify the best practices in order to help addicts drop the habit for good and lead productive lives. The Task force developed 25 bills the Senate passed. The Assembly and Governor agreed to 11 of the bills to become law. For more information: Martins.NYsenate.gov
