Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of murder in what prosecutors described as an unprovoked attack following a confrontation between the two teens. Authorities say the incident began when Metcalfe asked Anthony to move from under a school tent, leading to an altercation that escalated into violence.
Supporters and protesters gathered outside the Collin County Courthouse as the verdict was read, resulting in clashes with law enforcement and multiple arrests. While Metcalfe’s supporters called the decision justice, Anthony’s supporters argued the case was influenced by bias and emotion.
