2:36Now PlayingA Massachusetts jury has failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, resulting in a mistrial after nearly 39 hours of deliberations.
Jurors told Judge William Sullivan that they remained deadlocked, with all but one juror reportedly agreeing on a decision. Clancy’s defense sought to remove the holdout juror through an emergency appeal, but the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court declined to intervene.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued the case highlights concerns surrounding postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors, meanwhile, emphasized that their focus remains on seeking justice for Clancy’s three children.
No decision has been made on a possible retrial. Clancy will remain in a psychiatric facility, with a status hearing scheduled for September 29.
