3:45Now PlayingRussia and North Korea have opened their first dedicated road bridge, creating a direct vehicular connection between the two countries for the first time.
The roughly 0.6-mile, two-lane bridge crosses the Tumen River and is designed to accommodate up to 300 vehicles per day. The new crossing is expected to expand trade and transportation between Russia’s Far East and North Korea.
The bridge’s opening comes as Moscow and Pyongyang continue to strengthen their economic, political and military ties. Russia and North Korea have increased cooperation since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
