Anil Agarwal is the founder and Chairman of Vedanta Resources Ltd, a company he transformed from its initial beginnings as a scrap metal business. His company was the first Indian firm to be listed on the London Stock exchange. As part of his philanthropic mission, the Vedanta foundation has partnered with the Ministry of Women and Child development to modernise many child care centres throughout India. Additionally, the group has invested US$49.0 million into building hospitals, schools and infrastructure, working with charities to improve the livelihood of over 4.1 million people. He has personally pledged to donate 75% of his family’s wealth to charity.
