I invited Rory Naismith, Professor of Early Medieval English at Cambridge University to discuss this great forgotten king of the Mercians who dominated what would become England in the 9th century, ruling over a larger swathe of territory than any king before, and building that famous earthwork from sea to sea.
This was a fascinating conversation and great to listen again in the edit. Rory is a fount of knowledge and one of the leading scholars on this time period. I very much enjoyed devouring his new book Offa: King Of The Mercians (Yale University Press) If you enjoy this conversation I highly recommend getting yourself a copy:-
