1:43Now PlayingHundreds of doctors who followed every immigration rule and built careers in communities with no other medical options are being forced to stop seeing patients 🏥 A policy announced in January froze immigration processing for citizens of 39 countries, removing physicians from their jobs and leaving entire communities without care. The United States already faces a shortage of about 65,000 doctors, and foreign physicians make up 25% of the medical workforce ⚕️ Doctors who passed every background check and chose to work in underserved areas are now being pushed out simply because of where they’re from. Some have been unable to work for months, others were pulled from operating rooms, and hundreds of patients have been left without treatment 🚨 The American Medical Association has warned that entire communities are losing access to care because of this policy. More than 200 affected physicians have organized, and lawsuits have already been filed to challenge these actions 💼 The communities losing their doctors are not staying quiet, and this fight is happening in courts right now. A policy that leaves patients without care to punish immigrants who followed every rule will not go unchallenged.
