46:39Now PlayingJill Wine-Banks and Victor Shi are joined by National Security expert Miles Taylor from the Bush and Trump administrations for a conversation about what drove him to blow the whistle on the growing dangers to democracy posed by the Republican politics, the forces driving it, and the changes he’s seen while in government. Is it possible to restore the party before it’s too late?
Before working for President Trump, Miles served in the George W. Bush administration, but he started his political career even earlier – while in High School, and continued it during the Trump administration when he served as Chief of Staff under Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. It was while he was at DHS in 2018 that he penned the anonymous NYTimes op-ed. A year later, he left the government and joined Google and published a book titled, “A Warning,” also under the pen name Anonymous in October 2019. In Oct 2020, he revealed that he was Anonymous. Since then, Miles has founded Republican Voters Against Trump, endorsed Joe Biden for President, and most recently co-founded the Renew American Movement, alongside former Governors, congressmen, and cabinet officials, with the goal of preventing Donald Trump from running for office in 2024.
