His nineteenth book, Joy Ride, is a selection of this work, and ranges from interviews with timeless American dramatists such as Arthur Miller and August Wilson to intimate looks at international figures of the stature of Harold Pinter and Ingmar Bergman. Lahr is also the author of the book-length study Tennessee Williams: Mad Pilgrimage of the Flesh, which was nominated for the National Book Award and is now available in paperback.
