Acting on her parents’ model, DeLauro has used her office to fight for programs including food stamps, housing assistance, worker protection, and more. Her book recounts both her legislative battles, including the challenge of coming into office in the wake of the Gingrich Revolution, as well as the stories of people whose lives have been changed by progressive social policies.
