After Judge London Kite ordered Kirsten Bridegan — Jared’s widow — to turn over her cellphone to the court by 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, Kirsten and her attorney refused to comply and challenged the order. Judge Kite then set a hearing to address potential contempt of court.

But before that fight could fully play out, Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal stepped in, temporarily staying both the order requiring Kirsten to surrender her phone and the order requiring her to show cause for why she should not be held in contempt.
