24:31Now PlayingFrom pain (helplessness) to shame (responsibility, mastery, control, predictability, hope).
But narcissist reject his shame, shuns it, and is terrified of it. Consequently, he never accepts responsibility, has alloplastic defenses.
So, how to regain a sense of mastery (internal locus of control)?
Contempt is projected shame, the external solution (“THEY ought to be ashamed of themselves, they are contemptible”).
Contempt is not the same as grandiosity. Grandiosity is motivational and a cognitive distortion. Contempt is attitudinal. Psychopathy is the mirror image: grandiosity is attitudinal and contempt in motivational.
Grandiosity is about uniqueness, not about superiority. Contempt is a haughty sense of superiority over inferior others.
